Procopé & Hornborg assists in a case concerning alleged unfair pricing and other pricing regulation at the Finnish Rail Regulatory Body against VR Group Ltd

Procopé & Hornborg represented Fenniarail Oy and assisted in creating a more competitive market for railway companies in a first-of-a-kind case related to certain services across the Finnish – Russian border for rail freight transport, a case concerning alleged unfair pricing and other pricing regulation under the Finnish Railway Act at the Finnish Rail Regulatory Body against VR Group Ltd, a state-owned railway monopoly. According to the landmark decision certain pricing practices of VR Group Ltd did not meet the requirements of the Finnish Railway Act and the Rail Regulatory Body has ordered VR Group Ltd to take corrective measures. The decision is final.
After being VR Group Ltd’s exclusivity, the cross-border transportation between Finland and Russia was opened to competition in December 2016. Fenniarail Oy is the first Finnish railway operator operating on a commercial basis. Procopé & Hornborg’s team included Lotta Uusitalo, Asta Siponen and Dima Talja.
